This year’s charter from Šibenik, Croatia, follows on from last year’s successful trip. Tom S and Andrew P are organising it — one boat is already booked, with interest from several of last year’s skippers too. Tom is matching interested crew with skippers; Andrew is helping with boat bookings and itinerary planning.
The plan is for a two-week charter from 19 September to 3 October, with a one-week option from 19–26 September. It’s scheduled for after the summer season, when temperatures and sailing conditions are still good.
The hire base is Mandalina Marina, Šibenik, less than an hour from either Zadar or Split airports.
The charter is with NCP Charter, who’ve offered our group additional discounts depending on the boat chosen and availability. They can also organise airport transfers if needed.
Charter costs are currently quoted at around €1,500–£1,200 per week for a Dufour 375. Split between a crew of four, that’s roughly £300 per head. On top of this: full yacht indemnity insurance, marina fees, provisions and personal spending.
The plan is to largely stay together as a fleet, though individual crews are welcome to do their own thing too. We’ll head south from Šibenik, mixing secluded anchorages with marina nights in livelier historic towns — likely calling at Split (with its X Night Club and the option of a gay history tour), Hvar, Jerolim (‘gay’ island), Lastovo Nature Park, and maybe even Dubrovnik on the two-week itinerary.
